This new one I've started that was based on a riff I didn't end up using for the first. This one is almost done, also. Just need to finish one pattern and add some simple high-lead synth parts for a few of the patterns. I think it will Blow Ya Mind. I feel I've got to another stage with this one and the other new one.

- got into a bug where i'd kill a creature right when entering a room and since it autosaved i was stuck in an infinite loop. created a trick where you cannot hurt creatures in the first second and a half after entering a room; this fixed it mostly since that's time enough to move out of the way or move back the way you came. this also gets around the 'not saving healthbars' thing, i'll add in saving healthbars eventually.
- made a way to friend alpharepo (yeah i know it's not a creature but i like the idea)
- tried and failed to create the system where it'd warp you to the nearest empty door (so that doors between areas don't have to line up exactly), but at least made some progress and have some direction about how to code such a thing

New computer is up and running. In the process of restoring my backed up files. Keyboard is weirdly flat, but my old one was like 12 years old, so it's about time I got a new one.

I hope OHR works in Windows 7! This is my first upgrade since 2002, so it's a pretty big jump in performance, even though the whole thing was sub-$300.

... and he heard a dog barking on Mom's TV, and it spooked him awake. I got up to go pet him, and he went into the back room and sat down again, and stared at Mom. Mom kept calling him over to her, but he just sat there staring at her. Finally, he just rolled over again. XD Poor dog, so tired.

No more Lexmarks after this. They make you pay your firstborn child for ink cartridges, and they can't even get a device driver out in time for a launch everyone and their dog knew about.

• Tonight I had poutine AND a burger w/ a glazed donut in lieu of a bun. Both I had never had before. Now I know what heaven tastes like!
• For what it's worth, I only ate some of each, and I will be doing a lot of running to compensate.

First, an update to the Yggdrasil situation.

I tweeted this earlier but didn't get a chance to elaborate further.
Thanks to some... unexpected assistance from mother (who cannot fathom the thought of leaving a system incomplete until January), Yggdrasil will be brought online next week. Yeah, she actually wants Iggy finished faster than I do. WTF, right?

I am surely overthinking this and should be squeeing my pants off over getting the coins needed to get the needed replacement parts sooner rather than later. I guess I'm just too used to these things being giant traps. Which, of course, this PROBABLY IS, but mother insists, so...

Bonus awesome: I had enough Wells Fargo rewards points piled up to generate a $25 Amazon eCert. Awesome because I could use it immediately. I was literally seconds from submitting the Amazon order when at the last moment I raided my rewards status to see if there was anything I could do to slash the grand total further. That eCert dropped the total from $206 to $181, w00t!

So, if all goes well, I'll have a Yggdrasil on the network sometime next week. :D

Earlier in the evening I opened up my NaNo and added a few words. Looked down at my word count (Word 2007, your menus are COMPLETELY retarded different compared to 2003, but thank you, THANK you for having the word count show automatically at the bottom of the document) and saw it was 13,431. Went to the NaNo website and hunted down the Shoutouts thread for palindrome word counts and added mine, and said I'd end on a palindrome tonight if I could help it. (Also, that is a pretty cool number. After posting, I noticed: 1+3=4-3=1. I was almost reluctant to add words to it.) I ended up screwing around with what I'd written and taking a bunch of stuff out... like, 800 words or so, but stuff needed changing or I was going to write myself into a corner.

Anyway, just looked down again: 14,041. Haha.

Might write a little more... Really, I want to hit 15,000 tonight if I can. I'm trying to stay a few days ahead at all times. Yay for having next Wednesday off from work, though! That'll be fun. I think I'll stay up stupidly late on Tuesday and sleep in Wednesday morning.

Downtown, at work, was complete chaos--I work a couple blocks down from Broadway/the Canyon of Heroes. So many people. o_o While I was waiting for my lunch (pizza), someone yelled out, "In New York, we smoke Phillies!" and everyone just started cheering. I don't think I've seen anything like that, ever.

Also, there were maybe four people in my department that were in all day today including myself. Maureen actually came in because traffic was a bitch and she got fed up trying to get to the ACS Children's Center (where she was supposed to be helping with training, but there are three other people there to my knowledge) and stayed in the office for a little while, and Joseph came in and left half an hour later, haha. It was SO quiet. I loved it.

I've been looking at Dragon Age: Origins. I've been really tempted to buy the game, however its an EA title, and as we all know EA has a way of a fun pure gaming experience turn into curdled milk. Point in case down-loadable content. You pay $50-$60 for the game, something I consider a hefty investment, and then as you're playing find missions inaccessible because you need to pay them more money to download it. To be fair ATM there's really only one DLC you have to pay for, but its kind of essential as its the mission that gives you storage space $7. There are others, but best I can tell there are promotional codes shipped with the game that let you get them for free, despite the fact one of them costs $15. If they're going to include it with the game why put a price of $15 on it? Do they think people are going to see that as some grand bargain? Hey! I got $15 character for free!! Can I request a copy that doesn't have that character for $35?

Anyways as interesting as the game sounds the prospect of having EA slap some milkers on my man nipples isn't very attractive. I'm already feeding one horrid beast that way, I don't need to give in to another. Maybe they'll come out with a GOTY edition in a few months that'll have all the crap they offer for $40.
